Description
The long-awaited new light module with Garmin Varia mount is ready. The Sonic Topper is designed to be as aerodynamic as possible while still allowing you to mount lights higher on your velomobile. The sideways orientation of the Varia unit has been tested and proven to not have any impact on radar performance. Please note that the position of the front headlight is for safety purposes and not designed to provide light for driving in the dark as it will shine on your head. This lower position still allows the light to catch the eye of drivers and creates a more aerodynamic profile based on computer simulations. Currently the Sonic is fitted for the WAW and Buelk Velomobiles with work being done to also make it available for the Mango/Quest/Strada, Alphas, and Milans.
The Sonic Topper includes a mount in front for a B&M IQ-X or similar sized headlight and a mount in the rear for a Garmin Varia. You can often find good prices on the lights at places like BikeInn and Bike24. Northland Velo is unable to provide the lights. Wiring will of course be necessary to install the IQ-X headlight. If you are not comfortable doing electrical work, please visit your nearest dealer for assistance. The Topper will include a gasket custom shaped to fit the headbump of your velomobile. Please note there will be a small gap in the back between the gasket and Topper to make it easier to remove the Varia light. The sonic topper is designed to be bolted to the headbump of your velomobile, so it will be necessary to use a drill and the included template for installation. Printed from ASA for durability
Also available in a version for Varia only with plans to create a third iteration with motorcycle camera mount in front and varia in rear for nearly 360 camera coverage.
